Just realized I forgot to do a Gems this week! Geocaching with dear friends, a successful dinner party, my friends amazing me with how awesome they are, new haircut by Rachel Elizabeth Laughton, and meeting new students.

Gems (2): Being with friends for laughter, supporting friends in their tears, spending time going through old photos that go back many, many years. Fish climbing ladders, pork covered in batters, frames for my eyes. Getting work done before a birthday party, low-key style, with blues band surprise!

Gems 2011 (so far!): Snowshoeing and making a snowperson on New Years Day; feeling scholarly as I prep a new course; a few great visits with family; cooking with, and for, friends; getting back on the dancefloor and improving my swing; sitting just outside a fireplace chatting with a friend while making Mexican Hot Chocolate from scratch.
